We have a diverse team which includes medical, nursing, pharmacy, optometry teaching staff as well as professional services staff. Clinicians from a variety of disciplines work within and visit the centre to develop and deliver educational activities. The Centre has close working relationships with NHS Tayside, and other departments within the University, including the Centre for Medical Education, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and the School of Computing.
Our simulated patients and clinical patients are an integral part of our community. They have been providing an invaluable service as volunteer members of the clinical skills team since 1997. Helping to train our medical, dental and nursing students, they provide an unrivalled experience for the students in terms of communication, technical and non-technical skills. The University of Dundee Medical School is one of the few to introduce student contact with Simulated Patients within the first semester and this continues throughout the students’ time at University. As well as committing to the undergraduate programme our simulated patients also work with qualified healthcare practitioners, again providing an invaluable resource for teaching and learning.
