You must be an IST trainee to apply, please complete the online registration form, once you have paid the fee of £490, you should claim the money back through your TPD as you normally would with study leave.

VENUE: Surgical Skills Centre, Level 5, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee

COURSE CONVENORS: Mr Arpit Jariwala (Shoulder) and Mr Steven Dalgleish (Knee) 

The course will provide simulation and cadaveric training in the core principles of shoulder and knee arthroscopy in line with the requirements of the orthopaedic training curriculum. Unique features of these courses are the use of highly advanced shoulder and knees simulators to practice basics of shoulder and knee arthroscopy techniques replicating real life scenarios.

These simulation based skills then will be complement by undertaking diagnostic shoulder and knee arthroscopy in complete cadavers embalmed using the Thiel method, on a standard operating table giving a more realistic theatre training environment. Relevant tips and trick lectures will be delivered by learned faculty.

The objectives of this course for the delegates are to enable them to understand the principles of diagnostic shoulder & knee arthroscopy and practice undertaking basic shoulder and knee arthroscopy both in simulated and cadaveric models. The course will help IST trainees develop arthroscopic skills of safe portal placement, triangulation, be able to do a safe and efficient diagnostic shoulder and knee arthroscopy under supervision.
