Rhinoplasty and Septoplasty Skills

This one-day course held in the Surgical Skills Centre, involves a competency based approach to Septoplasty and Rhinoplasty Techniques for a maximum of 10 ENT Surgical Trainees.  Candidates will be working in pairs on a Thiel fixed cadaver based work station. A series of structured exercises have been devised so that trainees can complete a variety septorhinoplasty simulations covering the following

  • Mid columella and hemitranfixion incisions
  • Septoplasty
  • Hump reduction and osteotomies
  • Tip sculpturing and basic tip suturing
  • Spreader graft
  • Dorsal graft
  • Columella strut

  
WORKSTATION HANDS ON TRAINING

The course provides:
  • Instruction in the use of instrumentation
  • “Hands on” practical anatomical and surgical skills experience using cadavers
  • Personal tuition from experienced otolaryngologists
  • Evidence of skills training and competency
