Principles of Forefoot Surgery - Thiel Cadaveric Course

This course has a reduced fee for 2015 only.

 

Description

This is a one day hands-on cadaveric course that will cover the principles and surgical technique of common surgical procedures of the forefoot. Thiel embalmed human cadavers will be available, giving a more realistic operating room experience. Didactic presentations on the various procedures and techniques will be delivered by expert faculty. Over 5 hours will be spent on cadaveric surgical dissection.

 

Target audience: Aimed at orthopaedic ST3-ST6 trainees and SAS grades who would like to gain experience in forefoot surgery. Numbers are limited to 10 delegates with 2 delegates for every operating site.

Aims and objectives

To provide training in the principles and surgical technique of common surgical procedures of the forefoot. Surgical techniques will be taught and practiced. Case discussions will conclude the day.

 

Learning outcomes

On completion the delegates would have been exposed to the surgical techniques and have performed the following surgical procedures: Scarf osteotomy & lateral release, Akin osteotomy, Lapidus fusion, dorsal cheilectomy, 1st MTPJ fusion, MTPJ release and Weil osteotomy, PIPJ fusion, BRT osteotomy, Morton’s neuroma excision The day will close with case discussions.
